Children and Young People

There is a range of activities at St Martin’s for children and young people, including our Family Service, Play and Praise and Sunday School. During the week there are Tots groups, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Play and Praise:

This is a very informal service for children of all ages and their parents or carers. We meet monthly on Wednesday afternoons from 3.15—4.45pm in the Church Hall for play, a Bible story, crafts, singing and a prayer and refreshments. This is usually the first Wednesday on the month. You can follow us on Facebook and see more of what we get up to.  More details can be found on our Play and Praise Facebook page or look at the Calendar for upcoming events

Sunday School:

On the third Sunday of each month, we hold our Sunday School during the first part of the service, starting at 10.00am.  Children of all ages are welcome for activities, crafts and a Bible Story.

Family Service:

On the first Sunday of the month, our 10.00am service is aimed at people of all ages, both young and old.

Youth Events:

We join together with other churches in Droylsden and Ashton once a month for Youth events.  Anyone in Year 6 or above is welcome to join us for fun and friendship in a Christian setting. You can find details of our next event here.

We have both Brownie and Guide groups at St. Martin’s who meet in the church hall each Friday evening during school term time. If you would like to know more about joining, visit the Girlguiding website or call 08001695901.

Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK and builds girls’ confidence and raise their aspirations. They give them the chance to discover their full potential and encourage them to be a powerful force for good. Also they give them a space to have fun that's just for girls!

Brownies are girls aged 7 to 10 and follow a programme called the Brownie Adventure. Brownies opens up a world of exciting challenges and the opportunity to try new things and to make brilliant friends.

Guides are girls aged 10 to 14 who are given the chance to explore their individual skills and abilities and try out new challenges as part of a team. Girls can get involved in anything from adventure sports to performing arts, travel and taking part in community action projects.

Beavers, Cubs and Scouts

Beavers meet in the church hall on Mondays at 6.00pm. Cubs and Scouts meeting in the church hall on Mondays at 7.00pm. All groups are for boys and girls.

Scouting is the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation and say they change lives by offering 6- to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.  They help children and young adults reach their full potential through developing a range of skills.  Scouts take part in a wide variety of activities.  There’s something for every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world.
