Funerals

A funeral gives an opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world and to commend the person into God’s keeping.

If you would like to hold a funeral service in our church, let your Funeral Director know and they can make the arrangements for you and they can also advise you of the fees. If you would prefer a service at a cemetery or crematorium, one of our ministers would be very happy to take this service for you - just let your Funeral Director know.

If you would like to talk to someone, whether it is about practical arrangements or about how you are feeling, please contact our vicar. For more information, you might like to visit the Church of England website

St Martin's has a small Memorial rose garden where cremated remains of those who lived in the parish at the time of their death, died in the parish or who were on the church electoral roll at the the time of their death may be buried.  There is also a board by the garden where plaques remembering those who have died may be placed.  We also have a Remembrance Book in church where the names of those who have died may be recorded - these names are read out in our prayers at the time of an anniversary.  For further information about any of these, please contact our vicar or churchwardens.
